Life has been uncertain for a long time now. The world has changed.
In Australia we’ve had drought followed by fire, then floods and finally the pandemic. The world is suffering from the Covid-19 pandemic.
We’ve been in lockdown, out of lockdown and back in. These are unsettling times because there’s no definitive solution as yet.
This has had the effect of people feeling lost, lonely and disconnected.
Why Do A Vision Board
You know the saying, “A picture paints a thousand words” that’s what were doing with your vision board. You can look at a picture you’ve chosen and know exactly what it means to you.
What Is A Vision Board?
A vision board is a representation of your unconscious (subconscious) mind because it’s more powerful than your conscious mind.
Lets G.P.S. Your Life
This week is the next step in your process to rediscover joy.
I’m a big believer in vision boards, there’s so much research behind visualisation and this is why vision boards work.
Many studies have shown that visualisation is as effective as performance and having already achieved the goal.
This is how athletes train to win. They imagine every par of the race and every thought they’ll have during the race as if they’ve won already.
A study of weightlifters showed that their brain waves were the same pattern while visualising they were actually lifting weights as when they were actually lifting weights.
Creating Your Vision Board
Step 1- Make space and time
Find a quiet space to work on your vision board. Look at your mind map that you created last week, feel into it. Does it still match what you want your life to be? Think about how you want to feel in your life. You don’t have to choose the exact things you want in your life, however you just need to match the feeling you want to have for your future.
Step 2 – Gather your materials
This could be a corkboard or a large piece of cardboard
Choose image to match the feeling you want to create in your life
Glue, washi tape
Step 3 – Create Your Vision Board
Set time aside to work on your board. Take the time to be with your thoughts, let them rush in and notice the way you feel. Place your images with purpose.
Feel your life as if it’s already happened and only choose the images that feel right for you.
Take your time, be patient with yourself and enjoy what comes through to you. Admire your finished reimagining of your life. Soak it in, this will be your life.
Place your finished board in a position where you’ll see it everyday, so it can remind you of what your vision of you life is.
As usual, have fun with it and let me know if you’ve discovered anything new about yourself.
